Botanical Silence by Oviul Maruf
Bangladeshi photographer Oviul Maruf has unveiled “Botanical Silence”, a contemplative photography series that invites viewers to slow down and connect with the quiet, often overlooked beauty of the natural world.
In a world that rarely pauses, “Botanical Silence” shifts the focus toward stillness. Through macro and abstract photography, Maruf captures the delicate presence of flowers and the intricate details that often go unnoticed in everyday life. The collection highlights the soft curves of petals, the subtle textures of leaves, and the gentle interaction of light and shadow across living forms.
“Rather than treating flowers simply as decorative subjects, I approach them as living forms that hold their own quiet character and presence,” says Maruf. “Through Botanical Silence, I invite viewers to pause and experience the calm beauty that exists within these simple yet expressive natural forms.”
The series reflects a patient creative process in which the natural composition, shapes, colors, and details of the flora guide the final images. The result is a visual narrative built around light, form, and fragility, creating a calm and meditative atmosphere for the viewer.

From the Editors
“Botanical Silence” reminds us that meaningful photographic subjects do not always require dramatic locations or extraordinary circumstances. Sometimes photography begins with something familiar and close to us, observed with enough patience to reveal details that are usually overlooked.
The project also shows how a simple subject can become a personal visual study when the photographer slows down, pays attention, and allows light, form, texture, and composition to shape the image.
